Description

Operations Bridge Manager (OBM) 2021.05 can be configured to run in FIPS mode in case this is required for compliance reasons.

Enabling FIPS on OBM would mean that, those Agent systems which are managed by that OBM Server should also be FIPS enabled. Operations Agent supports FIPS, and FIPS can be enabled through command execution on the Agent system.

If an Operations Agent connected to a FIPS enabled OBM is also not enabled for FIPS, it can lead to unexpected Policy execution failures. It is hence mandatory to enable FIPS on those Agent systems, which are connected to a FIPS enabled OBM.

The procedure to enable FIPS mode for Operations Agent is described here. The key challenge in this context is the mass enablement of FIPS on a large number of already installed and connected Agent systems, and ensuring that the enablement has happened successfully.

The FIPS Enablement Tool extends the remote management capabilities of OBM by providing the capability to mass enable FIPS on a large number of Agents, and verifying that the enablement was successful.
