What's new in this release?

  • Simplified Mixed Mode: Meanwhile we simplified architecture of the Service portal for mixed mode, which will address multiple issues in previous mixed mode service portal, e.g. from 2019.02, there is no data duplication and data persistence in the Portal which leads to reduced complexity, data consistency between Portal and SM backend has been improved, and IDM/SSO across portal and SM has been improved.
  • Single Deployment model: To provide unified SMA deployment experience, this release provides a single deployment model across SMAX and Mixed mode deployment for Service Manager. SMA can be deployed in SMAX mode or SMA-SM mode (mixed mode): SMAX mode uses SMAX tenants, and SMA-SM mode uses a Service Manager tenant. For both modes, you must install SMA first using the same simplified installation process.

Release notes

The content files enable SMA Service Portal to connect to Service Manager and empower customers to enable Smart Analytics in Service Manager without the need for a license. Service Manager 9.6x, SM 9.5x and SM 9.41 Codeless are supported.

  • Service Portal unload: enables Service Portal to connect to Service Manager
  • Smart Search unload: empowers you to enable Smart Search without the need for a Smart Analytics license (this unload is not required for Service Manager 9.62)
  • Smart Search Entitlement unload: enables Smart Search to be executed based on the user's entitlement defined in Service Manager (this unload is not required for Service Manager 9.6x)
  • The .jar file in idm-client-core-1.10.18.zip enables customers to configure SAML authentication in Service Manager 9.5x by using the idm service embedded in the SMA suite.

This package contains SMAX cloud deployment scripts for AWS and Azure deployments.

The package includes Packer and CloudFormation scripts that enable automated deployment on AWS. The Packer scripts mainly create new AMI templates based on the provided CDF installation package, while the CloudFormation scripts perform the majority of the auto-provisioning work for CDF and the suite. Operation toolkit provides the following scripts to ease your operation efforts. The toolkit works for the SMA 2019.02 release only.

1. Backup and Restore

The disaster recovery(DR) toolkit performs a full backup and restoration of the following suite data:

  • Suite configuration data: configmap data, certificate files of integration products stored in the global NFS volume, and more.
  • Business data: content and configuration data stored in the Smart Analytics (IDOL) NFS volume, and attachments that users have submitted to Service Portal tickets, and more.

2. Change FQDN

Use the script in itom-sma-change-fqdn-2019.xx.tar.gz to change the FQDN of your suite environment.

3. RabbitMQ Fixing tool

This script is used for fixing the issues with RabbitMQ in the SMA suite. The supported versions are 2018.05 and above. Please refer to the readme file in fix_rabbitmq-2019.xx-xx.tar.gz for details.

4. Integration User Password Change

SMA has a system-defined user (bo-integration@dummy.com) for internal integration purposes (for example, for data synchronization between Suite Administration and tenants). You may need this user's password when running certain tools provided by Micro Focus. Use this script (changeIntegrationUserPwd.sh) in changeIntegrationUserPwd-2019.xx-xx.tar.gz to change this user's password for best security.

5. Database and Sysadmin Password Change

There are two scripts in initom-sma-operation-tool-2019.xx-xx.tar.gz.

Usage: action_change_db_pwd.py [-h] -d {UCMDB,Idm,Service Management,Suite Administration, SmartAnalytics, Autopass} [--version]

6. Clean Thinpool

As the SMA Suite has multiple releases and now the thinpool device usage becomes quite high, the clean_thinpool.sh script in clean_thinpool-2019.xx-xx.tar.gz can be used to purge all unused images in the cache to release thinpool space significantly.

7. SMAX IDOL Re-index

Use this script to trigger a re-index process in SMAX.

Notes:

  1. The script triggers a re-index process. The whole process may take hours depending on your data size and the hardware capacity (CPU, memory and storage I/O).
  2. The search functionality is temporarily unavailable during the re-index process.
  3. You must use Python 2.7 or above on the master node of the suite.
  4. You must have the "root" privilege to execute the script.

Please follow the steps in the README file in SMAX_search_reindex-2019.xx-xx.tar.gz.

1. System Check

The diagnostic tool (system_check.sh in diagnostic_tool-2019.xx-xx.tar.gz) in this release is enhanced to gather a log file from the NFS server for unready pods and to create a package to collect all information. Run this script on the master nodes, worker nodes, and NFS server as needed.

  • Usage:
    • ./system_check.sh (the log file will be put in the /tmp folder)
    • ./system_check.sh -l /<user-defined path>/ ( all log files under the <user defined path>)

2. Check Resource

The script check_resources.py in check_resources-2019.xx-xx.tar.gz is used to check CPU and memory usages of each POD for a running SMA Suite. It is useful for checking the system health of the SMA Suite.

  • Usage:
    • Before running this script, you need to install python 2.7 or above.
    • python ./check_resources.py

The SMA Virtual Agent (Chatbot) function helps end user to quickly find answers related to their questions. The virtual agent can understand messages from end users in natural language. Support tickets can be created via the virtual agent if end users cannot find answers from the knowledge base. This will save real agent's time from interaction with end users. Service Requests can also be created via the virtual agent if end users cannot find the correct service offerings within the portal. Please note this is a Beta feature in SMA2018.05 release, the feature can work only with SMAX/SMA-SMA 2018.05 or above.

Feature Tracker in SMA-SM provides enhanced capabilities to allow the management of an end-to-end development lifecycle. The module utilizes an integration into version control systems to keep track of all your application changes. It enables you to manage and maintain objects changed for tailoring purpose inside SMA-SM upon integration with a Git code repository. In addition the solution helps to simplify the CI/CD process for Service Manager releases. It offers capabilities to commit all code changes, but also deploy all code changes into different environments from within SMA-SM application itself. The solution also provides entitlement capabilities to ensure that a "Review Based Development" approach can be followed, which means that only users with special permissions are able to commit code or deploy code.

In order to enable this feature, you need go to https://marketplace.microfocus.com/itom/content/sm-devops-support to download the unload and apply it to your SMA-SM.

Please make sure to download the latest v1.10 package and refer to the documents packaged in it for more details on how to install and configure.
